South Africa Three Countries Tour overview:

Starting in Mpumalanga Province home to the world famous Kruger National Park this Tour departs from the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) just outside of Nelspruit (Mbombela) town on around noon. 

The tour ends back at KMIA around 16h00 on the last day. Departure from OR Tambo Int airport (Johannesburg) available on request.

There are numerous daily flights between Cape Town International Airport as well as Johannesburg International Airport and KMIA.  Alternatively guests can travel on one of several shuttle busses that service this route daily, private road transfers can also be arranged on request.

What to expect on your South Africa Three Countries Tour:

Day 1: Malelane

Depart from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (flight to arrive no later than 12:35) and proceed to the Jane Goodall Institute - Chimpanzee Eden, for a unique opportunity to see chimpanzees in semi-wild surroundings in the first and only sanctuary of its' kind in South Africa.  Afterwards we continue to your hotel which is located on the banks of the Crocodile River, a natural boundary of the Kruger National Park.

Day 2: Kruger National Park

Early this morning we head into the Kruger National Park for a full day's game viewing in a 10x seater custom built Open Safari game viewing vehicle.  Together with your experienced and qualified guide you will search for creatures big and small in the magnificent reserve which is home to the "Big Five" (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo, Elephant).  Late afternoon return to the hotel in time to witness a typical African sunset, weather permitting, from the hotel's deck overlooking the Crocodile River.

Day 3: Mozambique

We depart for Mozambique today, for an interesting orientation tour covering the historical, cultural and scenic palm lined beachfront sights of Maputo, the Capital of Mozambique. After lunch (own account) travel across the newly built bridge to Catembe from where our 4x4 adventure starts, travelling 110 kilometers south to our lodge located along a beautiful, isolated and relatively untouched area of Africa.

Day 4: Mozambique

Spend a full day at this remarkable beach resort. Relax in the sun on what is regarded as one of Southern Africa’s best beaches, or take advantage of the many optional extra activities on offer, including scubadiving, deep-sea fishing, fly-fishing, rock surf fishing or horse riding. Keep your eyes peeled for wild dolphins and the odd whales and whale sharks which are known to visit the area.

Day 5: Mozambique

Another day at leisure on the beach or to take advantage of the many optional extra activities on offer....

Day 6: Tembe Elephant Park

After breakfast we depart for the next leg of our journey.  A short drive will take us to the Kosi Bay Mouth (weather permitting), where we will visit the site of a traditional fish trap.  The local Thonga people have been using this traditional and sustainable method of catching fish for generations.

Day 7: Tembe Elephant Park

Spend the day at leisure at this beautiful lodge.  You can enjoy relaxing SPA treatments (own account) or join the lodge for a thrilling game drive in the Reserve (optional extra, own account).  Tembe Elephant Park is home to the Big Five as well as a variety of other game but is especially known for its Elephants which are reputed to be some of the tallest in Africa.

Day 8: Swaziland

We depart early morning for the second smallest country in Africa, Swaziland (eSwatini) passing through scenic mountainous countryside, before arriving at Ngwenya Mine, reportedly the oldest in the world, dating back to 42000BC! A local Swazi guide will fascinate you with its history, which was mined by the Khoisan and Nguni people thousands of years ago for Ochre, used for ceremonial purposes. This evening your accommodation is a traditional bee-hive hut, a comfortable and truly African experience situated close to the beautiful Malolotja Mountain Reserve.

Day 9: Swaziland / Mpumalanga

This morning, before our return to South Africa, we enjoy a once in a lifetime Malolotja Canopy Tour experience!  Situated in the pristine mountain wilderness of the Malolotja Nature Reserve the Tour offers some of the most dramatic scenery you will ever encounter with striking rock formations, towering cliff faces and views across the lush forest canopy towards the mountain peaks.  Experience the thrill of gliding through the forest canopy in one of the last remaining mountain wilderness areas in Swaziland.  Thereafter we cross the Jeppes Reef Border back into South Africa where your 3 Country tour ends with a drop off at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport by 16h00.

The Chacma Baboons of the Kruger National Park

Chacma baboons are numerous in the Kruger National Park and live in huge troops numbering up to 200 animals (typically between 30-40).  Troops consist of a family group of males, females and their young.  Young baboons depend on their mothers for transportation, initially the little “pink foots” cling to the underside of the mother.  At around 3 months of age they start riding “jockey style” on mommy’s back (leaning against the tail for support) as seen in this footage...

The African Giraffe

There are approximately 10000 Giraffes in the Kruger National Park.  They are gregarious and live in nonterritorial loose groups of up to 20 at a time, a behaviour that apparently allows for increased vigilance against predators. They have excellent eyesight, and when one giraffe notices approaching danger it will keep staring until the others look in that direction too.  Giraffes live up to 26 years in the wild and slightly longer in captivity.
