This 6 Day South Africa Canyon, Bush and Beach Tour is aimed at guests who would like to make the most of their visit to Mpumalanga by spending a night on the escarpment before going on a Full day Panorama Route Tour the next day to fully enjoy all the highlights associated with the area surrounding the Blyde River Canyon before continuing towards the Kruger National Park Lowveld down below whilst also including a visit to the nearby country of Mozambique for a Full day Tour of the cosmopolitan capital city of Mozambique!

Professionally Escorted:  Discover the Blyde River Canyon, the Kruger National Park, as well as the cosmopolitan city of Maputo in the company of professional Tour and Field Guides.

Accommodation:  Rooms of a 3 star standard with private facilities on a twin share basis.  Upgrade option available to a nearby 4 star Lodge (additional costs applicable, price available on request).

All flights, optional extra activities, entrance fees not specifically stated as included in Itinerary, VISA costs where applicable , lunches and dinners daily, soft and alcoholic drinks, travel insurance, tips and gratuities (it is customary in South Africa to tip your guides), expenses of personal nature.

What to expect

Day 1:  Day of Arrival

Johannesburg (OR Tambo International Airport) to Long Tom Pass

A representative from Kruger South Safaris / Isivuba Tours & Safaris will meet you at OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg from where you will proceed to drive through the scenic Mpumalanga Province towards the Kruger National Park. The first evenings’ destination is Misty Mountain Lodge (or similar) situated on the Long Tom Pass with an inviting pool and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Afternoon at leisure to laze around the infinity pool or set off on a self-guided nature walk on one of the well marked and maintained trails on the property. A Sun downer at the pool bar watching the sunset will conclude the first day. Dinner for own account (A la carte).

Accommodation: Misty Mountain Lodge Sabie (or similar) (BB).

Day 2:  Sabie to Malelane

Blyde River Canyon (Panorama Route Tour)

Check out and departure at 08h30 after breakfast (included) from where you will head towards the scenic Panorama Route Tour.  First stop for the day will be the nearby Mac Mac Falls where a short walk leads down to the 56m high twin falls.

Enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding Drakensberg Mountains from God’s window viewpoint before continuing along the Blyde River Canyon taking in amongst other sights the Bourke’s Luck Potholes and the Three Rondavels with clear views of the 800m deep canyon and the three giant cylindrical mountain tops from which the viewpoint derives its name.

Late afternoon arrival and check in at Rio Vista Lodge nestled along the banks of the Crocodile River which is ALL that separates you from the esteemed Kruger National Park.  Dinner can be enjoyed at the A La Carte restaurant on the property (for own account).

Day 3:  Malelane - Kruger National Park

Full Day Kruger National Park Open Vehicle Safari Tour

A visit to the Kruger National Park is ideally undertaken in a custom built Open Safari Vehicle so as to enjoy not only the sights, but also the sounds and smells of the African Bush. The vehicles with their elevated height and open sides offer fantastic photographic opportunities whilst the guides with their trained eyes and valuable knowledge promise to make this an unforgettable experience.

Your will be collected early morning from reception with a packed breakfast from the Lodge which you will enjoy at a picnic spot or rest camp when your guide makes one of two breaks during the day. Lunch for own account. Returns late afternoon.

Day 4: Malelane - Maputo

Maputo Mozambique Full Day Tour

Today you’ll venture into Mozambique where Vasco Da Gama landed in 1468 on his way to India.  After  border  crossing  formalities (Visa  conditions  apply – cost for  own  account) the  first  stop  will  be  at Tricamo Village on the outskirts of Maputo where coffee and a delicious spread of pastries are on offer before heading into the cosmopolitan capital city for a day that promises to thrill your senses.  

Historical buildings, museums, a typical African market, a visit to the famous Polana Hotel, a scenic drive along the palm lined beachfront road the “Avenida de Marginal” and a seafood lunch (not included in Tour price, cost for own account) are just some of the highlights of the day.  Be prepared for a long day!

Day 5:  Malelane - Kruger National Park

Full Day Kruger National Park Open Vehicle Safari Tour

Another early morning start with a packed breakfast returning to the Kruger National Park to search for the elusive “Big 5” the Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo, and Elephant. With some luck you’ll also see giraffes, gnus, zebras, hippopotamus, crocodiles and the comical warthog.  The entire day has been set aside for game viewing and will end back at the Lodge late afternoon in time for sundowners.

Day 6:  Day of Departure

Malelane to Nelspruit

Check out and departure at 11h00 after a leisurely breakfast. Your Kruger South Safaris / Isivuba Tours & Safaris representative will collect you with your luggage from reception for the short 1-1.5 hour journey to Nelspruit town/airport*where the Tour will come to an end.  Guests have the option of either flying back to Johannesburg OR to return via shuttle bus (all costs for guests own account, not included in Tour price).

*Shuttle bus departs Nelspruit 14h00; arrives OR Tambo bus and coach terminal 17h30

*South African Airways flight 8842 departs MQP 13h35; arrives OR Tambo 14h25

Note: Optional extra, additional costs applicable and subject to availability guests may choose to book an EARLY MORNING 4 hour bushwalk operated by SANPARKS from Malelane Gate in the company of an armed ranger before returning to the Lodge for breakfast and check out on the last day. Price on request.

Notes 

PASSPORTS ESSENTIAL!  International visitors need a VISA to enter Mozambique which at the current rate of USD 85pp (own expense) is obtainable from the border and is payable in either USD or ZAR (South African Rand). 

Most International visitors do not need a VISA to enter Swaziland (Eswatini), however please note VISAS are not issued at the border so please check with us at the time of booking to ensure your country appears on the list of countries whose citizens don’t require a VISA to enter Swaziland.

A 25% non refundable deposit required to secure a booking, the balance is payable no later than 30 days prior to arrival, bookings made less than 30 days before departure will be required to pay full amount at time of booking

Please note that the deposit is non-refundable.  Cancellation 30 days prior to arrival date and/or commencement of Safari/Tour/Activity - deposit plus 25% of total bill;  14 to 29 days - deposit plus 50% of total bill;  0 to 13 days - 100% of total bill.
